Sonia Brodie - BLAST - B.L.A.S.T.

Sonia recently completed her Masters in Neuroscience in the Brain Behavior

Laboratory at UBC hospital. Her research was focused on whether non-invasive brain stimulation may help individuals learn a new task after stroke, and how the sensory cortex in the brain is involved. She currently works as a member of the Pediatric Anesthesiology Research Team at the BC Children's Hospital, and as a Rehabilitation Care worker for individuals with acquired brain injury. In her spare time, Sonia can be found playing outside on the water or the snow, depending on the season.

"In my lab, we focus on individuals with chronic stroke who have presumably ‘plateaued’ in their recovery."

"We hope to better understand the mechanisms of injury after stroke, and whether the boundaries of recovery can be pushed farther using non-invasive stimulation techniques."
